Finally, a tool for maximizing client compliance!
|
The first offering from SLP-info.com is a programmable, body-worn behavior modification conditioning device called the MotivAider.
Here's how it works:
The MotivAider is worn on a belt or in a pocket. Periodically, at preset intervals, it emits a silent pulsing signal. Since the client only feels the signal and no one can hear it, it acts as a personal, private reminder.
A Conditioning Protocol is used to program the MotivAider. As part of the Protocol, the client chooses a trigger word and a specific behavioral change to be made. For example, let us say the trigger word gentle is chosen and the change to be made is a gentle onset for each sentence - as a fluency-enhancing target or to reduce laryngeal abuse.
The result of using the Conditioning Protocol to program the MotivAider is that when the client feels the pulse, they automatically remember the trigger word and, when speaking, start gently.*
With repeated exposure to the now conditioned pulse, the old habit is soon replaced by the new. For detailed information regarding the MotivAider, go to: www.motiv-aider.com.
$40 postpaid in the US.
Order online or by sending a check or PO to NCS, 388 Second Avenue, Suite 136, NYC, NY 10010 or fax to: 212-982-0032.
*Your job, as clinician, is to teach the gentle onset; the MotivAider's job is to help habituate it.
